Travels to see Kasim

This is my online diary of my trips to see Kasim.
I'm really writing this diary for (a) myself and (b) my friends but I know that other people will hit it too so feel free to browse around! Just remember that this is the way that I choose to live part of my life - I don't make judgements on the way your live your life so kindly show me the same respect.

Graceland

My alarm was set for 8.00am but I woke up at 7.30am anyway so I had my included continental breakfast. I logged online and updated KI.com (Kasim’s going to raffle one of the prototypes of his new bass!) plus I downloaded some website updates that one of my clients wants me to do…no rest for the wicked!

Ann rang and arranged to collect me at 3.00pm. We both thought that Robinsonville was an extension of Memphis but apparently it’s 25 miles away so she kindly offered to pick me up this afternoon. I check out of my hotel at about 9.30am and caught a taxi to Graceland. I opted for the Platinum package ($28) and it was a really well organised tour. First of all we caught a minibus across the road to the house (we all had headphones) and then another bus brought us back to the tourist side where there were exhibits of his cars and 2 airplanes.

The house Graceland was a lot smaller than I expected it but as OTT as I’d been told to expect. Some of the rooms and hallways had carpets up the walls and it was really thick carpet! The Pool Room had folded material all over the walls and ceiling. They allowed you to take as many photos as you liked plus you could wander around the Remembrance Garden and where Elvis’ grave is located (plus both his parents and a grandmother plus a plaque to his stillborn twin). There are all his gold and platinum records all over the place - they reckon he’s sold over a billion records! The Lisa Marie airplane was fascinating…so elaborate - definitely a great way to travel!

The tail of the Lisa Marie - this was his logo in the 1970s (TCB stands for "Taking care of business")

Afterwards I had a soda in the diner that was on the site and they had jukeboxes at each table where you can play your favourite Elvis song! I caught a taxi back to my hotel and go there at about 1.00pm so I sat in reception doing some work on my laptop until Ann arrived at 3.00pm.
