Travels to see Kasim

This is my online diary of my trips to see Kasim.

Norway tomorrow!

Other than packing (of course!) I think I'm all ready for seeing Kasim Sulton in Norway tomorrow! Unfortunately I have to get up at 3am (UK time) as I'm on a 6.30am flight (which seemed like such a good idea when I booked it!).

The weather forecast is dreadful! The high tomorrow in Oslo is supposed to be only 53 degrees and there's a 70% chance of rain. The good news is that as Norway is so far north, it means that sunset isn't until 10.40pm which will be wonderful!

Todd Rundgren is due on stage at 7pm with The Pretenders on at 5.15pm and a popular band in Norway called Big Band after Todd at 9pm. I'll probably only stay for a couple of their songs so I won't get caught in the queue out of the car park.

On Sunday I plan to look around Oslo as I've never been there before. (I've realised that this will be my 16th country that I'll have seen Kasim in!) My flight home is at 6.25pm on Sunday so I should be home by 11pm.

Getting ready for Norway

I checked the weather forecast for Saturday and apparently Oslo will only be 45 degrees and there's a 60% chance of rain! That doesn't sound too good! I just hope that Kasim Sulton's set (or rather Todd Rundgren's set) is during the 40% of dry weather!

Of course the forecast may change nearer the time.

I've discovered today that I have to print my own boarding pass for my cheapie airline or they're going to charge me £40! (That's about $70!) I don't have access to a printer at the moment so I've had to ask a friend to print it for me.

Trip to Norway!

It's not been easy but I'm finally all booked to see Kasim Sulton playing in a festival with Todd Rundgren in Norway next month!

The festival is near Oslo so I looked at flights into that city and they're about the £230 mark which isn't much less than I pay to fly to NYC! I then found a cheapie airline that flies into an airport near Oslo but most of the car hire places there are closed at the weekend! I eventually found a car hire place that is open both days (I'm flying in on the Saturday and out on the Sunday) so I booked the two return flights for less than £1! Of course with charges it came up to about £30 but that's still a bargain. It'll mean driving about 50 miles to Oslo but I've never driven in Norway before so that'll be an adventure.

I then booked my festival ticket and was shocked to see that a one day ticket is £72! That's over $100! I know we get The Pretenders too but I thought that was a bit steep. It's no wonder that they can afford to fly Todd in for the one gig.

I've managed to book a nice looking hotel too so I'm all set!
